Thean Chun & Kong Heng, Ipoh

Lunch with mum and dad the moment we arrived in Ipoh ...
Saturday, 16th September 2006

This is the mecca of coffee shops in Ipoh, and possibly in Malaysia (only paralleled by PJ's Restoran O&S), and we enjoyed Pork Satay, Chee Cheong Fun, Chicken Hor-Fun (Kai-See), Kangkung & Sotong with Belachan, Yong Tau Foo with Sar Kok. Unfortunately, they were out of their famous CUSTARD on the day, but we were pretty stuffed!

By the way ... The Satay stall (located on the alley between Thean Chun and Kong Heng) used to be run by the 'senior uncle' (who used to shout 'YOKE HUEY' aka "Move It") is now being manned by the son! We asked him, "Where's your dad? Is he retired?", and his reply was "He still comes around some time, but he is at a meeting in Penang today".
DOH! Meeting!? Perhaps he is Lifetime President of S.A.M. (Satay Association of Malaya)?
